Fall Fashion Ads are Whimsical, Artistic October 15, 2009

When I think of fall I think of leaves turning gold, cool breezes, cool colored pea coats and for some reason the artist in me really comes alive. Now I am no painter, I am ok at photography and let’s just say that my drawing skills are at the 3rd grade level, which may be an exaggeration. However, I do know that I love to look at art. My favorite about the Fall season is the artistic elements that help fall fashion ads come alive.

Here are a few of my favorite ads that have been appearing in the fashion mags:

Michelangelo di Battista, photographer of these Siri is Pure Gold ads, using model Siri Tollerod. These ads have a renaissance look to them, with the edgy fashion appeal needed to show off the clothing. Love it!

This is for a Marc Jacobs spring and summer campaign, however, it has been appearing in fall magazines. I do think this gives more of a fall look than a summer look.

Out of all the ads Louboutin did utilzing shoes, this has to be my favorite! I love the dark element of the painting that is mixed with the edgy heel.

Here Christian Louboutin used shoes to be a part of baroque art. Baroque is the perfect era to remind someone of Fall.

Pregnant hits the runway August 27, 2009

Tonight on Project Runway’s latest episode featured clothing for a pregnant Rebecca Romijn.

Like last week, Mitchell battled with the outfit, overplanning on a small time frame. Ra’mon stressed out about his critique from the last episode that it almost hindered his thought process and Malvin was trying to make a birds nest for Rebecca’s belly.

In the end most of the outfits looked great. Very playful, but not for a pregnant woman. Ra’mon’s dress really accented the curves, in a bad way. Louise actually put thought into the fact that as one goes through a pregnancy, the body changes, which I liked. My favorite however had to be Shirin’s dress. It was very chic and comfortable looking, which fits in with the style she wanted.

After all was said and done it was my pick, Shirina who won the challenge and Malvin was elminated.

Do you think that Malvin should have been eliminated over Mitchell, even though Mitchell was in the bottom two for the second time? Let me know your thoughts and share your favorite looks!

First Episode Steamy! August 20, 2009

The first episode was just as intense as ever. With the mission to create a runway look it was up to the designers to also be innovative.

Christopher was the winner with his version of an MTV Movie Awards dress. It was chic- punk rocker or as Michael Khors put it “Two words you never put together, cute and edgy.”

The loser sadly was Ari, who used her meditative and creative ways to come up with an outfit that might have worked anywhere but the red carpet. I really did enjoy her creative flow and I think her outfit and ideas could appeal to a certain client- but for something more dance party or dinner with friends.

While I did like Christopher’s dress, there were a couple of others that I liked even more! Gordana’s dress was beautiful! I loved the way that it flowed and even more I loved the design she put into it. I also really loved Shirin’s dress. The detail that she put into the corset section of the dress was amazing.

Overall it was good night for Project Runway. Who was your favorite designer?
